Eden Park will be the Host Stadium to the under-20s rugby world championship in 2014.
The International Rugby Board this morning announced that the annual IRB Junior World Championship will be held in Auckland in June 2014
The annual championship, which will see 11 countries playing it out for the top title, began in 2008 and has never been hosted in New Zealand.
Since 2008 New Zealand has won every year, except for this year when host country South Africa took out the top spot.
The Government has invested $1.45 million into the event, which has been matched by the Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development. It is expected that the event will bring $8million in economic benefits to the city.
At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast , which is 250m from the stadium , I expect we will be having the same type of interest shown from the RWC 2011.
We welcome enquires from interested sports patrons . It’s better to be early than late for accommodation.
Oh so close yet so far ! The Blues rugby team lose again to the South African Sharks. With a disjointed crown of aprox 10,000 watching ; the Black Friday curse struck again . We Lost !!!
There is going to be some serious blood letting within the coaching team and the Auckland Rugby Union Board over this malaise . It is now at the stage of being embarrassing to the public that support the team. Lost 6 games…..won 1.
At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast we had guests that watched and although most didn’t understand the rules they were enthusiastic . Shades of the RWC fever from last year. I even saw war paint on some of the supporters. Here’s oping that the ANZAC League Test next week between New Zealand and Australia goes better for us
International Visitor Arrivals to 01 April 2012
Total visitor arrivals are up by 14.1% compared to the same four week period last year.
Ups: Malaysia 49%, China 72%, Korea 12%,
Singapore 5%, Canada 19%, Australia 11%,
Japan 21%, USA 4%, Germany 21%,
Nice to see the increase from USA,Germany,Australia and Canada.
And let’s hope the Blues might win some !!
its now into the business end of the Rugby World Cup with the Quarter Finals being played in Wellington and Auckland this weekend.
Wellington has South Africa v Australia and Ireland v Wales .
Auckland has England v France on Saturday and New Zealand v Argentina on Sunday at Eden Park.
We are full house at Eden Park Bed and Breakfast so it’s late nights and early starts for Marlene and myself. The atmosphere has ramped up in interest in the games. New Zealand has seen the withdrawal of Daniel Carter and that was like a black cloud of despondency had settled over the country…. But rugby is a team game and I am sure the team will step up to address the issue.
I have commitments with Supercare4u at the games so I will be rolling into bed at midnight and up at 0700 the next morning to help Marlene with the breakfast servings.
that’s business tho. you do what you have to do.
I read that Steve Jobs has passed away.RIP Steve.Your brilliance will be missed. It’s sad that the bright ones seem to go earlier….
Today is Mr Darcy’s column. We have a dog on the property. He is a male “Spoodle”. This is a cross from a cocker spaniel and a poodle.
He has the cocker bum which goes from side to side when he is excited to see you and the brains of a poodle. Sometimes a bit too smart !
He is Marlene’s dog and she loves him. He is a small dog and kinda cute……for a dog!
He is 18 months old and has been a welcome addition to the property. I was concerned about the issue of running Eden Park Bed and Breakfast with a resident dog, but so far he has been a treat with the guests. I was surprised one day to see a guest come out to breakfast and then insist on going outside to play with Darcy. Obviously the dog just loves this attention.
We are still full house with the Rugby World Cup 2011 in the country. This weekend we have South Africa v Samoa at North Harbour,Albany and England v Scotland at Eden Park.
Should be lots of face war paint from the various fans.Check out our various U Tube uploads.
Its Thursday night and the Springboks are playing at North Harbour Stadium. We are full house for accommodation for Eden Park Bed and Breakfast this weekend for the double header at Eden Park. The first game is the All Blacks v France on Saturday and Fiji v Samoa on Sunday. It will be a hell of a weekend and I think Marlene will be exhausted by Monday. Oh yea rugby world cup 2011!!!!
Just have to pretend that it is peak season in Summer !
I am over at North Harbour Stadium tonight doing the mobility service for the game. Very high numbers tonight on Supercare4u.com.
Am surprised as to how many South Africans have emigrated to New Zealand.Cause they all seem to be here tonight! Thankfully the rain has stayed away and the game is being won by the Springboks.
