This weekend has seen activity such as NRL9 Rugby at Eden Park unseen since the #RWC 2011.
The NRL9 ‘s(nines) has been in town for two days. We have seen enthusiasm and costume colour that is a joy to behold. At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast , we have the FULL sign up and it’s 8 for breakfast.

INBOUND VISITOR ARRIVALS to 2nd February 2014

Are the Blues on a Roll

The BLUES win again.
In-front of a bumper 31,014 home crowd, this 34-15 victory was a step up from last week’s upset of the Hurricanes in Wellington. While Auckland’s population are a bit slack in passion towards sports teams it is obvious that they want to believe in this rugby team. I remember the poor attendance last year to their games. Last night there was an atmosphere in the crowds walking past Eden Park Bed and Breakfast that I haven’t seen since the RWC 2011.
And 5 try’s to zip says it all….
While it’s too early to say these rejuvenated Blues are the real deal – there is no doubt Sir John Kirwan, Graham Henry and co have modelled a unified, passionate group.Long may it continue. I am a great believer that a strong Auckland Rugby presence offers great value to New Zealand Rugby.

IRB under 20's in Auckland

NEWS FLASH:

Eden Park will be the Host Stadium to the under-20s rugby world championship in 2014.
The International Rugby Board this morning announced that the annual IRB Junior World Championship will be held in Auckland in June 2014
The annual championship, which will see 11 countries playing it out for the top title, began in 2008 and has never been hosted in New Zealand.
Since 2008 New Zealand has won every year, except for this year when host country South Africa took out the top spot.
The Government has invested $1.45 million into the event, which has been matched by the Auckland Tourism Events and Economic Development. It is expected that the event will bring $8million in economic benefits to the city.
At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast , which is 250m from the stadium , I expect we will be having the same type of interest shown from the RWC 2011.
We welcome enquires from interested sports patrons . It’s better to be early than late for accommodation.

Eden Park Update

At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast , we are always in favour of increased activity at Eden Park Stadium , so i am upbeat about the Auckland council cost-cutting move that will see the Warriors make a permanent move to Eden Park .
Eden Park , the city’s largest stadium has often been touted as the Warriors future home, with the team having played their opening matches of the last two seasons there.
Bring the Games on!

Everyone trying to make a dollar

I guess you have to wonder why we trust any company these days….. The latest bombshell to rock business confidence is affecting airlines already suffering from declining patronage and excessive fuel costs. Japan Airlines has been ordered to to pay $2.275 million after admitting price fixing on its fuel and security surcharges for cargo flown to and from New Zealand.
Japan Airlines was one of 13 that colluded to impose fuel and security surcharges for cargo shipments into and out of New Zealand over a period of more than six years.
The Japanese company is the fourth airline to accept penalties, following agreements with British Airways, Cargolux International Airlines and Qantas.
Friday’s penalty brings the amount obtained in settlements from those airlines to $16.375 million.
Seven other carriers, including Air New Zealand, are due to defend charges in March 2013.
UNBELIEVABLE…….
And Air New Zealand is a state owned enterprise of the New Zealand Government.
At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast we are still running at a less percentage than normal, but we have continuity with regulars. We are seeing response from wotif deals and contacts made with Australian wholesalers. Pity we don’t have a Test at Eden Park every weekend……..

International Visitor Arrivals to 17 June 2012
Total visitor arrivals are up by 5.7% compared to the same four week period last year.

Ups: China 45%, Korea 10%, Canada 6%
Australia 10%, USA 2%

Downs: Singapore -14%, UK -7%, Germany -5%,
Malaysia -40%, Japan -19%
