Everyone trying to make a dollar
I guess you have to wonder why we trust any company these days….. The latest bombshell to rock business confidence is affecting airlines already suffering from declining patronage and excessive fuel costs. Japan Airlines has been ordered to to pay $2.275 million after admitting price fixing on its fuel and security surcharges for cargo flown to and from New Zealand.
Japan Airlines was one of 13 that colluded to impose fuel and security surcharges for cargo shipments into and out of New Zealand over a period of more than six years.
The Japanese company is the fourth airline to accept penalties, following agreements with British Airways, Cargolux International Airlines and Qantas.
Friday’s penalty brings the amount obtained in settlements from those airlines to $16.375 million.
Seven other carriers, including Air New Zealand, are due to defend charges in March 2013.
And Air New Zealand is a state owned enterprise of the New Zealand Government.
At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast we are still running at a less percentage than normal, but we have continuity with regulars. We are seeing response from wotif deals and contacts made with Australian wholesalers. Pity we don’t have a Test at Eden Park every weekend……..
