There will be a public referendum on the legalization of legalising cannabis for personal use and it will be held by the 2020 election as part of the agreement between the Green and Labour parties.

The Green Party leader James Shaw’s party is backing cannabis legalization for 20 years, and the use of the substance should be a health issue, not a criminal justice issue.  A referendum on the issue by 2020 will be held.

 

New Zealand First supports a referendum on the decriminalisation of cannabis.

Shaw said there was nothing in the Labour-Green agreement that New Zealand couldn’t live with, and the same applied for the Greens in relation to the Labour-NZF agreement.

This will be the first time the Hurricanes have played the Lions. The 2016 Investec Super Rugby Champions will be keen to start this rivalry with a win. This match will kick off a rugby party in Wellington with the second Test match taking place at the same venue only four days later.

GABS is a craft beer and food festival, and is known to be one of the best beer festivals in the world.  This June, if you are in Auckland, then you will be able to experience the best craft brewers from New Zealand and all over the world!

Gabs Beer and Food Festival begun in  2012 .   Responsible for the event are Steve Jeffares and Guy Greenstone.  They own award winning Local Taphouse beer bars in Melbourne and Sydney, Australia.  Usually every year, GABS attracts around 23,000 people from all over the world.  Kiwi brewers were also part of the festival too.

The celebration of diversity for Craft Beer together with other hundreds of beers, stands, food vendors, cooking demo’s, educational seminars, GABS celebrates the diversity of craft beer and features hundreds of beers, brewery stands, outstanding food vendors, cooking demonstrations, educational seminars, fun activities for everyone together with one of a kind entertainment makes GABS Beer festival a unique experience for all.

Auckland promoter CRS Presents together in partnership with C3 Presents and Live Nation Entertainment, have announced the Auckland City Limits Music Festival, which will take place on Saturday, March 19, 2016 at Western Springs stadium, the surrounding fields and lakeside park. The line is up diverse, with a lot of major international music stars and local talents alike .   This is a  one day event which will showcase 40 artists from across a broad range of musical genres as well as feature outstanding culinary options, local artworks, an artisanal market, festival fashion, a kids zone and a new festival forum for speaking on and exchanging cultural and innovative ideas.

The Samoan Fia Fia Dance

Fia fias are AMAZING! These are Samoan feasts that include dancing, song and the famous knife-fire dance. Most resorts have them and they vary in performance

These images are from our “winter break” in Samoa last month. We had a slow down in visitor arrivals at Eden Park Bed and Breakfast and used the opportunity to escape from Auckland and head North into warmer weather. The temperatures averaged 30 degrees every day and it was  just wonderful . We hope you Enjoy this video.
