Tourists Beware - Don't Drink and Drive in New Zealand

As of December 1st 2014 the legal alcohol limit for drivers aged 20 years and over will be lowered from 80 to 50mg of alcohol per 100ml of blood, or 400 to 250 micrograms of alcohol per litre of breath.
The alcohol limit for drivers under the age of 20 will remain at zero.

There is no coincidence that it is Christmas Holiday time that this new law will take effect. Every year In New Zealand there are an average of 61 fatalities, 244 serious injuries, and 761 minor injuries every year caused by drivers who have been drinking.

If you’re going to drink, don’t drive, and if you’re going to drive, don’t drink.”

At Eden Park Bed and Breakfast we advise travellers to catch the bus or a taxi if they wish to go out for dinner. Please be careful..

Christmas is coming...

It’s Saturday 22nd Dec at Eden Park Bed and Breakfast. Bit of a rush day here. guests for breakfast and then a dash to Pukekohe (south of Auckland) for the annual family gathering and lunch.
Been very busy at the BnB with guests in and out. Makes one envious of the places that we hear, about; although travel is like a job…. Move on and gotta go….
We just had Guy check out last night and he had just finished a 2 month cycling trip around NZ. He had a great sun tan to go back to Germany with but on Tuesday he was back at his job in the Bank.
Kinda feel sorry for him..
I have a painting plan this summer. I have erected scaffolding on the west side to make the high rise gable easier and safer. I remember the last time I did this and thought never again… And here I am again.

Tis the day after Christmas. Boxing day in Auckland. Eden Park Bed and Breakfast is full and it’s zoom, zoom with me on Supercare4u.com.
We made the decision to not do the cooking thing yesterday ad instead went out for dinner to the Sky City restaurant in the city. Once we were seated in the tower and were blown away with the view of the city the serious work of eating took place.
Great food and company.Well done Sky City !
We have the family up from Christchurch. INgrid the Daughter was in her shop when the earthquakes struck. That is not the greatest experience I could wish for.
The kids were up in the North Island when it struck so I am pleased that was something that they did not have to experience again.
We have a Turkey to cook today and that will supply cold meats for the next few days. Yum,Yum.
I am out on the road driving again today……. Story of my life!
We had a full day yesterday with Patient Transfers .Started at 0630 and came off the road at 1700. Bit quieter today but still movement going down.
Merry Christmas to you all,
Tony and Marlene and Mr Darcy

Auckland's top Restaurants offer Terrific food, served with great charm and efficiency in a smart but probably somewhat informal atmosphere.
